Britain's Got Talent: George Sampson auditions in 2008
Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson, best known for his electrifying performances and winning the second season of BGT in 2008, has certainly had an interesting journey.
Despite auditioning for the first series and failing to impress judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden enough to reach the semi-finals, George returned a year later. He captivated ITV viewers with a contemporary dance performance to Singin' in the Rain, securing his title as BGT champion.
Post-win, he was seen on various TV shows and inked promotional contracts, even venturing into music before amicably parting ways with Simon Cowell in 2009. Out of the public eye for some time, George re-emerged on our screens in 2016 when he secured a role on Emmerdale and further participated on Celebrity Coach Trip with Roxanne Pallett in 2019.
Now, with BGT back on our screens, we take a look at George's life and achievements post-TV fame. George regularly showcases his talents on theatre stages across the nation. Having just wrapped up playing the lead in a UK-touring Robin Hood pantomime, he was moved to take to Instagram : "This past month has been an absolute roller coaster! " he shared before the final show last week, reports the Daily Star.
Sharing a heartwarming photo of himself in Robin Hood attire with a furry friend, he expressed his gratitude: "Playing Robin Hood on a national tour has been an unreal experience, thanks to everyone that came to watch the show! Here's me and my mate Sully having a much-needed cuddle between scenes."
This update follows his recent stint as the charming Prince in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in Weymouth, Dorset, adding another panto credit to his name. George's acting repertoire also includes roles in Peter Pan and Cinderella. In a surprising revelation about his personal life, George has had three hair transplants.
He once discussed his receding hairline on This Morning, admitting he'd shelled out £9,000 on the first two operations. During a candid chat with former hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, he shared his contentment with the third procedure: "I'm so happy. It's difficult. I still get hundreds of men messaging me about it.
"I felt like an old man with a babyface, I had to wake up and look in the mirror and think I hate my hairline." He described his bare scalp as a "landing strip of bare skin" and mentioned that football legend Wayne Rooney, who also underwent a hair transplant, inspired him.
George also opened up about his alopecia diagnosis and attributed his hair loss to stress, genetics, and the physical demands of performing head spins in his dance routines. Moving on to another aspect of his appearance, George has made quite a statement with his tattoos.
George, once known for his wholesome teen persona, has since embraced a more edgy look, flaunting his full tattoo sleeves last year. Fans were quick to react to a video he posted showcasing his tattoos, with one admirer commenting: "f*ckin awesome pal, love the logo on the cap."
Another chimed in with praise, saying: "That is sick man." The footage gave fans a glimpse of George's latest tattoo, a large portrait of himself performing in 'Singin' in the Rain', while his other arm pays homage to his acting career with designs like film reels and theatre masks.
George's romance with Kazmin Borrer began when they met during a production of 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie'. The couple often share glimpses of their relationship on Instagram and recently celebrated their fourth anniversary together.
During the festive season, George uploaded an adorable video of him and Kazmin sharing a Christmas kiss, mimicking a romantic scene. The duo also have a passion for travel, having posted numerous photos from their adventures in cities such as New York, Venice, and Los Angeles over the past year.
