Since the reveal of the System requirements, some of us may have questioned wether or not they can even run the upcoming Monster Hunter on their PC or if an (Full System) Upgrade would make sense. As a longtime Monster Hunter fan aswell as having the hobby of building PC´s i wanted to weight in on this matter.

This thread will be dedicated to help you figure out what should be done in order to enjoy this game on a system capable of running it at better Resolutions and Framerates. To get a rough understanding on where you stand, please check out this GPU Hierarchy chart but before we begin, i have to get a few things out of the way:

-As Monster Hunter Wilds and the PS5 Pro have yet to be released, what you will find here is speculativ and is subject to change. I encourage to use my hardware picks as a guidline. Make sure to at least try the Demo on its release to finalize your decision.

-The market for PC components is alway in flux, the prices and nuances below may alter in their capacity.

-For simplicity we will draw a comparsion to the PS5 and PS5 Pro as a baseline and work from there, thus the estimated minimum specification we want to surpass are a downclocked 8 core Ryzen 3700X CPU with a Radeon 6700 and Radeon 7700XT respectivly as GPU´s. Keep in mind that the PS5 has advantages over Modern PC´s such as Hardware accelerated Direct Storage, 12GB Shared RAM, No Hardwareconfiguration variety and a Slim Operating System, wich i highlight on grounds of the upcoming CPU Core parking Windows update. This is the reason we need to compensate with more powerfull hardware for comparable results.

-With this we derive the Minimum hardware target: 6 Core Ryzen 5000, 1TB NVMe Gen4 TLC SSD, Radeon 7700XT, 32GB RAM and a good airflow case /w 3 Fans, nothing to scoff at regarding performance

-I aim to keep the list irregularly updated and hope to get the support from the community in order to cover more regions if possible: I am only aquainted with the Amercian market and my residence is in Germany, thus i will only work with these two regions below

Notes:

-The GPU is the most important and impactfull part for a PC´s performance, you can find a performance comparison list at different settings and resolutions in the ressources section. The AM5 socket was prefered because of itsfuture upgradability, though caution is adviced due to the quality of the MB, for example a Ryzen 9950X will overburden it.

-Targeted price classes were done via adjusting the quality of parts such as PSU, MB and PC Case or filled up with better PSU´s and/or SSDs and their capacity. Crossrefenrece to get the best result, there was no Compromise for the GPU and the required cooling done.

-The packaged Price/Performance (CPU, Cooler, MB, RAM) of the Ryzen CPU´s cannot be beat with Intel equivalents, only viable alternativ here is the Intel 12400K compared to the Ryzen 5600.

-The 800 Priceclass is a bottom of the barrel kind of thing, please consider spending a little bit more since to a certain point, more money means MUCH more performance.

-The best CPU money can buy right now is the 9800X3D followed by the 7800X3D. The higher the Resolution the less important a CPU becomes. Remember that right now (09 November) it is overpriced.

CPU:

It is recommended to check what kind of CPU sockel you have.

-Old AM4 sockel users have the advantage of an exceptional upgrade to the Ryzen 5600 (non X) and Ryzen 5700X3D.

-LGA 1700 beware, Intel 13000 and 14000CPU´s may be faulty. 13400K/14400K and 13600K/14600K can be viable but depreciate less in their price, refer to the ressources below.

GPU:

As mentioned before, the most important aspect of your PC. Aim for the Radeon 7700XT, RTX4070, Radeon 7800XT or RTX 4070S in rising order. Try to get a 3 Fan Model in regards to its cooling capacity unless the additional cost or space requirement cannot justify it. I heaviely discourage buying an RTX 4060, 4060Ti or Radeon 7600XT and below, for they are not viable options compared to the Base PS5 and its pricetag. Keep your eyes peeled for an eventual RTX5000 announcement aswell.

SSD:

Aim for a NVMe Gen 4 SSD wich uses TLC NAND, this choice dervies from the Direct Storage Support this game offers aswell as the general quality of the SSD.

Powersupply:

please refer to the Tierlist linked below in the Tools and ressources section for your alternative choice. PC Partpicker offers a rough estimate of System Powerdraw, add ~150W to it for safety and performance reasons at minimum, target 750W - 850W if possible for future upgradability.

RAM:

The DDR4 Sweetspot for Ryzen 5000 is 3200 - 3600 MHz, this has to do with how the Infinity Fabric is handeled. Ryzen 7000´s DDR5 Sweetspot is 6000MHz. Cass Latency (CL XX) is a secondary metric you have to look out for that indicates the quality of the memory kit you have. The lower the better. Remember to checkmark the EXPO/DOCP or XMP profile in BIOS to enable these frequenzies. 32GB is the norm nowadays.

Motherboard:

Motherboards expierience diminished returns for their price, check out the feature set you require and dont overspend. usualy $200 MBs are as capable as $600 MBs. I targeted Wifi as a requirement for wireless internet and BT Controller support with a VRM and Phases that can handle lower power draw Ryzens.

PC Case:

This is a matter of taste. Just make sure its airflow is good and it has enough fans.
